About your Stay

Conservation fees

A conservation fee of R200 per adult and R100 per child per stay goes directly toward protecting Mabula’s wildlife and natural habitats.

Children under 5 years stay free of charge.

Speed limit

For the safety of both guests and animals, please keep to the 30 km/h speed limit while driving within the Mabula Game Lodge reserve.

Safety precautions

To ensure your safety and the wellbeing of the reserve, please remain in your vehicle unless you are in a designated area.

Child Policy

Children under 12 years of age can be accommodated with parents in the same room. The lodge has a limited number of extra beds so it is subject to availability.

  • 0 – 5 years of age: Complimentary when sharing with full paying adults.
    Permitted on safaris at manager’s discretion, however they are not permitted to view the big cats (i.e. Lion and Leopard).
  • 6 – 11 years of age: Pay published child rate when sharing with two full paying adults. Full adult rate applicable if occupying their own room or if sharing with one full paying adult. Permitted on safaris at manager’s discretion.
    A maximum of two children under 12 years can share with parents in a family room. Permitted on game drives.
  • 12 years and older: Considered as adults and accommodated in their own rooms. Pay full adult rates.
  • Triple sharing: Not applicable, family rooms can be only accommodate a maximum of 2 adults and 2 children.

Seasons

Mabula Game Lodge enjoys a summer rainfall climate, with around 481mm of rain annually. January is the wettest month (average 95 mm) while June is the driest.

Daytime highs average 28.8°C in the summer in January, while crisp winter days in June average 19.9°C. The region is coldest in July, and nights can be particularly chilly, with lows of around 2.7°C, so pack accordingly.

  • Use the left 2 lanes to take exit 134 for N1 North towards Polokwane | 1.6km
  • Merge onto N1 | 70.2km
  • Take Exit 238 to Bela-Bela
  • Head northwest on R516 toward Khota St | 2.8km
