It is said that an army marches on its stomach and we at Mabula Game Lodge like to believe that adage is also applicable to our guests. Perhaps they are not an army but as a group of like-minded individuals and families many of who believe that the three most important aspects of a bush break are sleeping, eating, and game viewing.
At Mabula we take all three very seriously. Our recently refurbished dining areas are ready to welcome visitors, both old and new, back again. Our team in the kitchen, ably led by our talented chefs cannot wait to hear the sound of cutlery on crockery again. And the look on their faces when guests are presented with a vast array of delicious food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. A variety of dietary requirements can be catered for and for those with a sweet tooth, the dessert offerings are legendary. Even the humble cheese platter has been raised to a new level, with a variety of cheeses to suit the most discerning palate.
Don’t feel like going on a drive? Then why not pay a visit to our welcoming Spa? Both men and women will be spoiled for choice with a menu of treatments that will keep you busy for an entire day. All our therapists are highly qualified and will assist you in your final choice. Whether it is a facial or a full body massage, guests are guaranteed to enjoy their experience.
The COVID-19 lockdown has not been wasted at Mabula! We have utilized the time and opportunity to upgrade all our rooms and given the response of the staff who have seen the changes during lockdown, we are certain that our guests will be “blown away” by the WOW factor that both the rooms and the bathrooms will elicit. New soft furnishings, in muted tones, make a vast difference to both the comfort and the aesthetics of each room and although guests usually spend a limited time in the rooms, the time that is spent indoors will be appreciated. And as for the new showers! They might look as if they are from the future, but with a variety of different settings, they will make stepping back into a traditional shower very difficult. The bathroom is large, bright, and welcoming, with just enough décor to make it feel like home.
The sound of running water is one of the most noticeable throughout the main part of the lodge. A series of waterfalls cascade over the rocks and into the water feature outside the dining and lounge areas. It has been proven that the restful sound of moving water has a relaxing influence on humans and at Mabula we like to make sure that our guests can enjoy their stay to the full. Returning to the world outside our gates refreshed in body, mind, and spirit, ready to face what lies in store back in the urban jungle.
If you thought that our Lodge looked spectacular during the day, it takes on a whole different persona at night. Especially the entrance which is both warm and welcoming, lit in the gentle glow of hidden lights. Returning from an evening drive the domed entrance can be seen from a distance, creating the feeling of returning home, rather than to quote lyrics from the Wizard of Oz…”Somewhere over the rainbow skies are blue” The song is about hope and when it was written in 1939, the world was facing the threat of WW2. Now, years later, as we face the threat of COVID-19, perhaps we can take these words as a beacon of hope for our future? Is Mabula Game Lodge the pot of gold at the end of this rainbow? If the comments and the compliments of our guests are anything to go by, we would like to believe that we are. But don’t take our word for it…come and visit and make up your own mind.
